Dr. Alo had her OB/GYN residency training at the University of Buffalo, New York. At the completion of her residency, she was given the Marcos B. Gallego, M.D. Award in Recognition of Overall Clinical Excellence.
She is a Fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Cristin Cox, CNM
Certified Nurse Midwife Cristin Cox is a Certified Nurse Midwife and lifelong resident of Conway, South Carolina. Deeply rooted in her community, she has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to women and families throughout Horry County. Cristin began her nursing journey as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and advanced to a Registered Nurse (RN), gaining experience in maternal-child health services and infection prevention. Her passion for women’s health inspired her to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University.
Outside of work, Cristin enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the natural beauty of the Grand Strand, and giving back to the community that shaped her.
Melissa J. LaFehr, WHNP
Melissa graduated from Colorado College, where she majored in Economics. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in health-related societies and extracurricular activities, which led her to wholeheartedly pursue nursing at the provider level. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Melissa then joined Palmetto OB/GYN in January 2023, where she loves to create meaningful relationships with her patients, practice evidenced-based care, and provide excellent patient education. Her passions include family planning, preventive care, and pregnancy care across all trimesters. When not in clinic, Melissa enjoys exploring the South with her fiancé and two cats, Coral, and Finley.

It’s like family . I don’t feel like it’s just a place to go in because it’s a Doctor’s place . The ambience, care, respects and personal experience are all unparalleled. Everyone is amazing !!! Today was my first visit. I was seen by a nurse practioner, Melissa and I can't believe that I finally found someone who validated my female concerns and provided what I needed. The nurse was very friendly as well. Thank you for seeing me such short notice.
Love the NP here as she takes her time and takes time to understand. Dr. Alo has an amazing personally and takes so much time with her patients and their care. High recommended!

I found palmetto obgyn while I was checking a closer one to my house. But they become like family they are all nice and very helpful. The only bad thing was wait time. But I wasn't complaining about it because it was kind of a me time. I had a hard c-section. I don't know how I could do it without Dr. Alo. Especially I want to say thank you to Amanda and Sharon and of course Dr Alo
I could not have been more blessed to discover this practice. I have been experiencing some painful symptoms for the last three months, which were extremely concerning to me. After confiding my concerns to the office staff, I was able to be seen quickly at 8 o’clock this morning. From the sonographer, to the nurse practitioner, to the physicians assistant, my experience was absolutely excellent. I have found my OB/GYN for life, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so, so much for caring for me.
I absolutely adore Amanda Ruby and her team they are phenomenal!!! I have literally referred her to everyone I know in Myrtle. She is so quick and efficient and just genuinely cares about her patients. The front staff is AWESOME. So attentive and professional. Love these group of ladies
The Best OBGYN Doctor!
Dr Alo has been my OBGYN for many years. There are no words to express my gratitude towards her professionalism, knowledge and caring. She delivered my twin girls. My pregnancy was high risk. Dr Alo was always by my side, making sure I was monitored and I got all the tests and exams etc that I needed to make sure my beautiful and precious children were growing and staying healthy throughout the pregnancy. She gave me the opportunity to have a "natural delivery" and did not just make me have a c-section.The delivery was a breeze, she guided me through the delivery, which made me feel safe and cared. A few years later I had a GYN problem. I was very scared. Dr Alo once again made sure the issue was tested and that I was okay.
Dr Alo is a wonderful OBGYN, we need more Doctors like her that treat us like family and that care so much. I would recommend Dr Alo and give her 5 stars! She is by far the best Doctor I have ever known!
I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Alo. She is an angel to our family and the absolute BEST physician we have ever had. She worked with us for over 3 years during our difficult journey to parenthood and was always so hopeful, positive, and encouraging during the toughest of days. With her expert medical help and lots of prayers, we finally had a miracle baby boy and we know that he is here because of her endless commitment to our family. She is the most approachable and kind physician you could ask for—always willing to answer any questions, and makes you feel like you are her only patient. Our entire family is so impressed with her and I am truly blessed to call her my physician.
