Menopause

The definition of menopause is the cessation of menstrual bleeding. This may occur naturally or surgically when the ovaries (female organs that produce estrogen) are removed. The period in a woman’s life shortly before her menses naturally stop is called the perimenopausal period. Menopausal symptoms include hot flashes, mood changes, vaginal dryness and insomnia (inability to sleep). Affected women should not continue to “suffer in silence”. There are many options, hormonal and non-hormonal, for relief of symptoms.
